Sketch reading

A photo of a paper sketch becomes a dimensioned part

The customer photographs the sketch scribbled on the corner of a table and drops it into the configurator. The reading returns a structured part: the profile type, the segments with their dimension and angle, the material, the thickness, the length and the quantity. The handwritten reference, here a roofing job, is kept: it is often the only thing that lets you find the order three weeks later. The reading states its own confidence rather than leaving you to guess. Nobody retypes anything, and the original sketch stays attached to the file.

The point that changes everything

What is missing gets asked for, never invented

This is the feature that decides whether a workshop can trust pricing software at all. Here the sketch did not state the finish. The configurator still rebuilt the part, then asked the question, offering the finishes actually available at this workshop rather than a generic list. No default was quietly slipped in. The behaviour is systematic: missing thickness, missing notch depth, a dimension that might be in centimetres, a bolt circle not given. The engine would rather ask one more question than produce a wrong quote, because a wrong quote is paid for in scrapped sheet.

Workshop constraints

Your catalogue, not a generic list

This is the first screen your customer sees, and everything on it was declared by the workshop: pre-painted, chequer-plate, perforated galvanised, corten, golden-oak aluminium, brushed anodised, mirror-polished stainless. The right-hand panel then opens what follows in order, finish, thickness, RAL colour, visible faces, and it refuses to move on while something is missing. A customer cannot order a material you do not stock, or a thickness your press cannot bend, because neither is offered.

Profil 2D

The profile dimensions itself live while the customer types

Every dimension entered redraws the section, with its angles, its segment markers and the visible face distinguished from the back. The flat length recalculates on each keystroke and is compared against the machine capacity, here 1,500 mm. The colour is picked in RAL, with the coated face specified: on a coping, coating the wrong face is a complete redo. At the foot of the panel, the green line confirms the part passes under the declared constraints. The customer sees their part, not a form, and corrects it themselves before sending.

Flat view

The flat pattern, exactly as it will go to the laser

The same profile, unfolded. Each segment keeps its colour and its dimension, bends appear dashed, holes in red and returns in green. This is the view the setter looks at, and it is also the one that lets the customer understand why a 40 + 200 + 40 part is cut from a 280 mm strip. The part length is repeated under the drawing. The DXF generated afterwards reproduces this outline exactly: what the customer approves on screen is what reaches the cutting bed.

Volume preview

Volume, so the customer sees what they are ordering

A three-dimensional render of the part, in its actual colour, rotatable. It is not for production: the words indicative, not contractual are on screen, and the flat view and the DXF are what govern. Its value is commercial. A customer who has seen the part in volume orders the right part, and above all does not discover at delivery that they had pictured the bend the other way. On Z profiles and parts with a return, this is the screen that prevents the most misunderstandings.

Panier

Several parts, a single job file

A job is almost never one part. The basket groups the profiles under a file name, the one the customer already uses, and the quote goes out in one piece. Each part keeps its sketch, its dimensions and its quantity. You receive a readable file instead of six emails to piece together, and the customer can add to their basket over two days without retyping anything. If they drop out along the way, the follow-up goes on its own with the resume link, and they find the basket as they left it.

What comes out once the customer has approved

Documents and emails: there is no honest screen to show, so they are simply described. All of them are produced without retyping, from the part the customer approved themselves.

Cut-ready DXF

The outline approved on screen comes out as a DXF at the right dimensions, ready to open in your CAM. No redrawing, so no possible divergence between what the customer saw and what the machine cuts.

Bend sheet

Bend order, dimensions, angles and visible face, on a sheet the setter takes to the press. The flat length is on it, with the deduction applied.

Quote priced on YOUR rates

Material by the kilo or the square metre, machine time, holes, finish, freight, margin. You import your rates: the engine applies yours, not a market average.

Nesting

Parts are interlocked by rotation to get the most out of the sheet. On a run, that is the difference between three sheets and four.

Order confirmation PDF attached

The order acknowledgement goes out as a PDF with the summary. The customer has a record, so do you, and the argument about what was ordered stops there.

Follow-up on abandoned sketches

A customer who started a part and did not finish gets a follow-up with the resume link. It is the cheapest revenue there is to recover.

La question que tout le monde pose

Will this software send prices to my customers without me?

No. When the customer approves, the enquiry reaches you and stops there. You get a summary email with the flagged points and four possible decisions: approve, adjust the price, ask for a clarification, refuse. You decide from the email or from the workshop dashboard, whichever you prefer. The official quote only goes to the customer on your click. The customer does get an immediate acknowledgement, so they know the enquiry arrived and do not call three times.

Clean part

Dimensions complete, constraints respected: it arrives priced and you only have to approve it.

Part to review

Something was missing, or the part is outside standards: it arrives with the point flagged.

Part refused

Unbendable under your rules: the customer knows before you do, with the dimension to correct.

What runs at a tenant, not in the demo

A few functions need credentials specific to each workshop: they are wired up at installation and deliberately stay inactive on the public demo. Better said here than left for you to click on for nothing.

  • Voice inputThe customer describes their part out loud instead of typing it. Needs a transcription service, wired up per workshop.
  • Real email sendingOn the demo, no message reaches a workshop. Sending credentials are set at installation.
  • Payment and depositPayment link, reminder and expiry: live at workshops that take a deposit before starting.
  • Workshop dashboardThe page where you approve and adjust the quotes received. It needs an account, so there is no open demo.

Your rules, your prices, your screens

Installation means loading your catalogue and your constraints. The engine does not change: what it knows about your workshop is what makes the quote right.
